Bethanie Danko

In her role as Community Relations Associate at Butler, Bethanie Danko provides daily support to a range of University departments including the President’s Office, Advancement, Marketing/Communications, and Student Life. She and Jim frequently host events for students and alumni at their home and represent Butler at civic functions and philanthropic events.
Bethanie was a higher-education writer, editor, and researcher for nearly a decade before arriving at Butler University. She has an MFA in Creative Writing and is an avid reader. Prior to her work in higher education, Bethanie taught English domestically and abroad. In the United States, she taught ESL and GED preparation as part of a community education program for adults. Outside the United States, she taught at a college in south-central Poland under the auspices of the Harvard Center for International Development.
Having grown up in rural New England, Bethanie is fond of nature, wildlife, pets of every kind, and snowy winters. She currently serves on the Advisory Council of the Indianapolis Zoo Board and is a member of the Board’s Conservation Committee. Prior to her service with the Zoo, Bethanie served for four years on the board of Indy Reads, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting literacy among adults and families in Central Indiana. She supports other local nonprofits including Dress for Success and the Humane Society.
Bethanie and Jim Danko enjoy spending their free time with family and attending Butler student games, events, and performances; as well as vacationing on North Carolina’s Crystal Coast.
